About HG Consulting
HG Consulting Group was founded in 2013 to provide in-depth stakeholder and public engagement, facilitation and strategic dialogue on a wide range of issues for corporations, public agencies and not -for- profit organizations. Services include long range strategic planning and visioning, structured stakeholder and community dialogue on complex policy matters, and capacity building and training in dialogue skills. HG Consulting projects span a range of critical issues facing San Diego, California and the nation, including (but not limited to) infrastructure, land use and planning, healthcare, a wide range of social services, issues affecting the Jewish community, tax policy and workforce development.
Heidi Gantwerk is the founder and principal of HG Consulting Group. At HG Consulting, Heidi has delivered customized design and facilitation for the public and private sectors, with diverse clients including the San Diego Airport Authority, the United Way of San Diego, The Jewish Federation, the Port of San Diego, Hillel of San Diego, the cities of Carlsbad and Vista, the Alliance for Regional Solutions and the Stennis Center for Public Service in Mississippi. She is an expert at leading strategic planning processes, community and stakeholder dialogue and civic engagement.
Previously, Heidi was Vice President of Viewpoint Learning for 10 years, where she managed the San Diego operation. She led work in civic engagement and public policy research, building on a background in community relations and media production combined with experience as a foundation program officer.
Heidi has designed and directed numerous national and local civic and stakeholder engagement projects on a wide range of complex issues including healthcare reform, federal and local finances, land use and housing development, infrastructure, U.S.-Muslim relations, education, governance reform and caring for the elderly.
At Viewpoint Learning, Heidi built on her media background to produce multi-media presentations demonstrating the power of public dialogue on a diverse set of topics, and spearheaded the addition of online dialogue to Viewpoint Learning’s array of methods for engaging the public and stakeholders on tough issues. Heidi managed Viewpoint Learning’s research, analysis and communications.
Prior to joining Viewpoint Learning, Heidi’s career focused on building bridges between communities, including serving as a liaison between local communities and network television, and creating innovative educational opportunities for inner-city schoolchildren. She served as director of youth programs at Price Charities, and as director of community relations for San Diego’s NBC owned and operated station.
Heidi holds a B.A. in psychology from Yale University. She currently serves as the President of the Board of Trustees of the San Diego Jewish Academy, and also serves on the boards of the San Diego Center for Jewish Culture and Hillel of San Diego. She has three sons in college around the country, and currently lives in San Diego with her husband.
